Proposal sent for appointment of Customs judge in Multan

LAHORE: Director General Intelligence and Investigations (I and I) Haroon Khalid has said that a proposal has been sent to the government to appoint a permanent special judge Customs, Sales Tax and Income Tax in Multan.

DG I and I told reporters on Tuesday that presently this court functions at Lahore and department had to transport accused in cases of this area to Lahore, an exercise that involves not only extra expenses and time but also security related risks.

The government has been requested to assign Customs Judge to hold camp office for one or two days per week in Multan till the appointment of a permanent judge. Or, some judge in Multan be authorised to hear tax cases, he added.

The DG I and I expressed the hope that the proposal would soon get positive response from the quarters concerned.
