Quetta Customs Intelligence confiscates contraband items worth Rs 2.6m

KARACHI: The Quetta Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized Handycam cameras, more than 1,000 memory cards and over 200 tablet phones. The market value of the seized goods is Rs 2.6 million.

The Customs Intelligence received information that smuggled electronics were being stored at a private warehouse located in Panjgur, which will later be supplied to Karachi. A team was formed that raided the warehouse and recovered 30 Handycam cameras and more than 1,000 memory cards. The team seized the items but no arrests could be made because the warehouse was closed at the time of the raid.

In another incident, the Customs Intelligence team patrolling in the area intercepted a bus and recovered 200 tablet phones from the luggage of one of the passengers. The team arrested the accused and confiscated the smuggled items. Further investigation is underway.
