RCCI seeks govt, traders meeting to resolve shops timing issue

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and all the trader associations of Rawalpindi on Monday demanded the government convene an immediate consultation meeting with the leaders of traders associations from all over Pakistan to develop consensus on the issue of closure of shops timing and that must for the whole country.

In the meeting the participants condemned police action against the traders of Islamabad. The meeting was held in Chamber and Chaired by President RCCI Syed Asad Mashadi.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Saddique, Shaid Ghafoor Paracha, Sheikh Hafeez, Ch. Iqbal, Zafar Qadri, Tariq Jadoon, Arshid Awan, Zahid Bakhtwari, Ikaram Abbasi,FIaz Qureshi, Rana Abdul Qadood, former presidents RCCI, Sohail ALtaf, Najam Rehan, Jaleel Malik, Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, Executive members and other members of the Chamber were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion President RCCI Syed Asad Mashadi said that Chamber always preferred consultation with trade association and today’s meeting was just held to announce joint resolution on the issue of closure of shops at 8pm as decided by the government. Trade Associations and Chamber are agreed government should not make separate rules for cities and provinces and evolve a joint rule for whole the country, but with the consultation of traders.

Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Sheikh Saddique, Sheikh Hafeez and other leaders in their speeches said that business community always supported govt on all issues, but on closure of shops in peak times government neglected the traders. They said that only Punjab and Federal areas come under this law and rest of t he country is enjoying the liberty, is it justifiable? And is Punjab is the only province where energy crisis prevails? They said that business community of the country is united and government must start consultation with traders to resolve the issues. They thanked Rawalpindi Chamber to organized such meeting and assured their full support in this regard.
