LAHORE: Regional Tax Office (RTO), Multan Chief Commissioner, Saleem Raza Asif said on Wednesday that those filing returns under tax amnesty scheme would enjoy double advantage.
He said, those filed returns under tax amnesty scheme would be exempted from detailed audit and wealth tax statement.
He said that initially response to tax amnesty scheme was slower but now was witnessing gradual increase.
Saleem Raza was of the opinion that business people apprehend that filing of returns would result in detailed audit of their returns and wealth tax statement detailing their income and expenses. Sensing their apprehensions, he said the government exempted them from two processes in case of filing returns under the scheme.
He said that around 230 persons submitted their returns with Multan RTO under the tax amnesty scheme, while another 100 availed this facility in other RTO offices in Multan region.
He said that Multan RTO collected Rs 39.881 billion in taxes and duties from July 2014 to Feb 2015. However, this recovery rose up to Rs 50.154 billion from July 2015 to Feb 2016, recording a 26 percent increase.
He said that he was discussing a tax recovery plan with his subordinates and tax recovery teams would be finalized within next few days.
He said the office would focus more on recovery of taxes and duty and would avoid prolonging litigation to achieve tax recovery targets.
