ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will start hearing of the pending revenue cases by forming special tax benches at both SC and high courts, after January 19, 2016.
It was decided between SC and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that the FBR Appeals collectors and commissioners will earlier decide the appeals and cases at their level and later the higher courts will initiate the hearing of the cases.
It may be mentioned here that the FBR had sought time period of one month from the SC to settle the cases at collators and commissioners level but the SC allotted it three months to decide all cases.
The allotted time period is going to expire on January 19 and the FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has directed all Appeals collectors and commissioner to solve the matters before the deadline, so SC could hear pending revenue cases as per schedule.
The FBR had pleaded the SC to make a policy to settle the cases soon, for which the court appointed an additional session judge to design a strategy that has been made and implemented from 2016, new calendar year.
