Sialkot ASO seizes non-duty paid toys, cloth during crackdown

SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Zone-I confiscated two cartons of smuggled China made toys and Iranian origin cloth worth Rs 120,000 on GT Road the other day.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary deputed Inspector Sheikh Ikram to establish check points at different locations of GT Road to curb smuggling attempts. The inspector along with his team comprising constables Shafique, Arfan, Luman and others started the checking of vehicles on GT road near Kamokey Toll Plaza.

The team intercepted a van bearing registration number LOC-3878 which was coming from Lahore and was going to Sialkot. The team recovered two cartons of China made toys and packets of Iranian origin cloth. The team asked driver Kaleem about booking and documents of smuggled toys and cloth but he failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of above said goods.

The team confiscated toys and cloth and shifted the same to store of Customs House. The team released driver after proper interrogations. The confiscated items will be auctioned after proper permission of adjudication court. Inspector Sheikh Ikram told Customs Today that the anti smuggling campaign is on its peak against smuggling and the Customs officials has vowed that the smuggling will be eradicate from the country at any cost.

Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir told the campaign to curb smuggling is in full swing and all ASO zones are performing duty to curb smuggling and positive results are on the cards.

He said another anti-smuggling  campaign started by Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation department will start from July 12 and both departments will must take stern action to eliminate the smuggling from the country. Inspector Customs Intelligence and Investigation department Mian Muhammad Yousaf told that the campaign against smuggling will continue till the end of smuggling.
