ISLAMABAD: Customs court has extended anticipatory bail granted to TCS Chief Executive Saqib Hamdani and Smart Zone Company’s owner Shakirullah till August 6th. Both were accused of allegedly involved in smuggling of contrabands undercover of Afghan transit trade.
On the other hand, Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Shahid Jan has decided to broadened investigation circle to other workers of The Courier Services (TCS). It is revealed in investigation that smuggled duty free contrabands undercover of Afghan transit trade was unloaded at warehouse of TCS before its dispatch to Afghanistan that was the reason why stickers of Afghan Transit Trade were not removed in urgency.
Customs authorities also got the copy of agreement between TCS and Smart Zone Company, which was dually signed by Saqib Hamdani and Shakirullah.
On their hearing, Customs judge was on leave so the culprits got respite till August 6th for their appearance before the court.
In their statement TCS Chief executive Saqib Hamdani and Manager Logistic Ghazanfar has denied allegations and said that TCS has nothing to do with smuggling, as it only provided its warehouse for storage. On the other hand Smart Zone Company owner Shakirullah in his statement claimed that goods were not smuggled rather they were imported in a legal way. But when Customs officials asked him to provide customs with any prove he failed to do so and also could not defend why goods worth billions bearing Afghan Transit stickers were present in TCS warehouse.
Customs officials had decided to ask court for Physical remand of culprits on their next hearing in August.
