U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes $141,976 in meth near Brownsville

WASHINGTON: At the Brownsville Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered over $140,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine hidden under the clothing of a woman and her infant child.

The woman, a 19-year-old American citizen and Brownsville resident, tried to cross the border with her infant child through the pedestrian lane, according to the CBP press release.

She was stopped by CBP for further investigation and the officers discovered four packages hidden under the woman’s clothing. Two other packages were hidden under the child’s clothing.

The packages contained a total of 7.10 pounds of alleged methamphetamine, which has an estimated street value of $141,976. The woman was also with a 19-year-old male American. Both of them were arrested and their custody was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations agents for further investigations.
