The labor force participation rate (LFPR) was 50 percent, a 1.8 percentage point increase year-on-year, indicating 1.45 million more people were looking for work.

Turkish government officials have repeatedly said that the increase in the labor force participation rate, with the country’s young population reaching working age, shadows the success of the economic administration as the growth of the LFPR outstrips the job creation rate.

The LFPR rate in January was 70.5 percent with a 1.2 percent increase year on year for men, and up 2.3 percent to 29.9 percent for women.
