ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue’s Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC) has started work to settle tax cases under Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
Sources said that a special panel has been constituted for the committee, which consists of an FBR official of BS-20, secretary of FBR’s Judicial Department, three representatives from all chambers of commerce, trade unions, tax experts and renowned businessmen.
The committee will settle the hundreds of high-profile cases, pending in judiciary, Appellate Tribunal and commissioners of appeals.
Member Operations Dr Muhammad Irshad, while talking to media, said that the ADRC would chalk out to settle tax cases of Karachi Large Taxpayer Units and Corporate Regional Tax Offices and way of revenue collection with mutual understanding of tax officials and taxpayers.
“The Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee will collect tax revenue worth Rs 35 billion through resolving the cases of Directorate General of Investigation & Investigation with negotiations,” he said, adding that the committee will also decide the three- to four-year-old audit cases in second quarter.
