IHC directs ATIR to decide case of Hotel Margalla within 60 days

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday directed the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) to decide a case filed by M/s Hotel Margalla within 60 days carrying tax claims of Rs 3,985,346.

Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC heard the case and disposed it of with the directions to the ATIR. M/s Hotel Margalla had submitted its complaint against the ATIR and office bearers of the Large Taxpayer’s Unit (LTU).

The appellant had challenged the ATIR decision in which the tribunal had upheld FBR’s decision creating demand of Rs 3,627,956 as sales tax and Rs 357,390 as federal excise duty for the years, 2010 and 2013.

The appellant had sought the court direction against the FBR order allowing the recovery of the said amount.

After hearing both sides arguments, the court issued fresh direction for the ATIR to decide the matter according to law.
